Mary Eggers
receives well-deserved praise from people she helped.
As a pediatric nurse, Mary shares many of her heart
wrenching story with our small group. I
received an email
from someone she touched recently. It will touch your
heart. She also
shared a conversation she had with her Make-a-wish patient.
She is an Ironman in many ways!
Kara
Klaasesz raises $6,800 for Huega Center. An
Ironman level fundraising effort by Kara yielded a big win
for the Huega Center.
Jim
Henderson hosted an April fundraiser at Jillian's in
Rochester. Proceeds to help the
American Diabetes Foundation.
Bob
Tubbs is coordinating efforts to host a Virginia Ironman.
Bob's new hometown of Williamsburg Virginia is contending to
host a 2004-2009 Ironman venue. He is in the process
of establish a bid-strategy office to pursue the
opportunity.
Gae
Orsini finalist for
Rochester's Sportswoman of the Year. The Heart
of Gold Foundation announced that Gae Orsini was selected as
a finalist for their prestigious annual award.
New web
domain name. On March 21st, this website will be
call Ironman4charities.com.
Bob Tubbs
relocating to Williamsburg, VA. Bob and his wife
Grace are in the process of re-locating to the Williamsburg,
Virginia area. He is planning to continue with the
Ironman project and the Lake Placid Ironman. He is
renting both his home on the Erie Canal and their cottage on
East Lake Road on Keuka
Lake.
Our best
wishes go out to Bill Kehoe and his family wishing a speedy
and complete recovery.
Mary Eggers
host first of many carbon monoxide rides. Many of
the group gathered last Saturday for a spinning ride in
Mary's garage. We viewed Ironman tapes and discussed
our training process and progress.
GRC 9 (R
News) to be our media sponsor. Tentatively, we
have arranged to work with R News to cover our activities up
to and including the Lake Placid event. R News Anchor
Jim Aroune will train with us.
The Humane
Society, Greater Rochester Enterprise and Make a Wish Foundation endorses our efforts.
We have received endorsement and best wishes from two of our
charities.

though the site and a commission goes to charity.
All purchases originating from our
online store results in commissions that will do into
the charity pool. Consider making your triathlete
happy for the upcoming holiday season and know that proceeds
will go to help the find charities listed.
Welcome
our newest athlete, Jody
Williams. Jody is our newest member from
Morrisville, NY. She is trying her first Ironman at
Lake Placid.
Site is
ready for launch and promotion. All of the
technical challenges have been corrected. We are ready
to roll. Thank everyone for their support as we
prepare this fun and interesting fundraising effort.
Gae &
Kelly kick butt (no
not Mary!). Both Rochester gals did themselves and
us proud with outstanding performances in Hawaii on
Saturday. Congratulations to both.
Gae's
Hawaiian Diary. Gae, John and her boys have
arrived in Hawaii for Sunday's Ironman. Read her daily
diary of her
experience.

27th Bike Ride to Buffalo Bills planned to promote program.
If we can work out the details with the Bills PR office,
we'd like to plan a large group ride to Buffalo.

Gae
Prepares for Kona, Hawaii Ironman.
Gae Orsini will
participate in the Hawaiian Ironman on October 19th.
Gae's many friends and well-wishers are excited about her
trip. Gae, we are looking forward to another wonderful
summary of your Hawaiian experience. Your
Lake Placid story
influenced and inspired many. Good luck from all of
us.
Make A Wish
Foundation. Thanks to a passionate story by
Mary Egger, many of the
participating athletes have chosen the Make A Wish
Foundation one of their charities of choice.
Buffalo, NY
wants in! Welcome. Our good triathlon
friends from down the interstate enhance the program.
Kara Klaasesz has
joined our ranks and is anxious to trade her training for
dollars.
WHAM
Sportswoman of the Year Meeting. We recently met
with representative from the organizers and sponsors of the
annual WHAM Sportswoman of the Year Luncheon. In
addition to helping us find ways to participate in our
program, we discussed nominating their first woman
triathlete!
Navistream's Larry Roth develops web site database.
A special thanks goes out to

personal time to develop our charity database.
Welcome
Fairport Phenom Kelly Bergkessel. The topic of a recent
Rochester Democrat and Chronicle sports cover story,
Kelly Bergkessel, a
University of Connecticut senior, joins the growing number
of participating athletes.
Online
Store makes first contribution. One of our many
friends recently made a $130 purchase from Performance
Bicycles via our web site. This sale resulted in a
$5.23 commission. I encourage everyone to use our
online store. It is a
great way to raise money for our program.
