How Does Tri-ing
Harder Work -
Frequently Asked Questions
For the
athletes.
How can I
get involved with the community fundraising project?
There are several ways to participate with the project.
If you are already registered to participate in the Lake
Placid or other Ironman events, please provide a profile and
both a portrait and action photos. You will be added
to the athlete's list.
If you are not
involved in an Ironman event, you can help by sponsoring one
or several athletes and volunteering time for media and
community events.
Do I need
to ask people for money? No, hopefully through
promotion and word of mouth, pledges will be made on your
behalf. Obviously, you are encouraged to send your
friends, family, co-workers and acquaintances to the site to
pledge a contribution.
Is this
program open to everyone? We are concentrating on
those athletes who have qualified or pre-registered for the
Lake Placid Ironman. If someone qualifies for Lake
Placid through some other event, they would also be part of
the project. We may ask Ironman veterans to share
their experience with us as well.
How does
the charity connection work? Each athlete selects
a charity or charities of their choice. They determine
the allocation of pledged money. For example, someone
could choose the Humane Society and Cancer Research;
allocating proceeds 40% for one and 60% for the other.
What do I
have to do? We ask they you provide a weekly
training update of miles biked/ran or meters swam.
This report will be added to your previous mileage. If
you have a personal best in a category, you should notify
the program so that more money will be allocated to your
charity though the personal best program.
